LONGSHOTS TO BE TRADED

The three listed above are guys who other teams might find appealing and the Royals likely wouldn’t hesitate to trade. Here are some that have been discussed as trade candidates in the past, but that it doesn’t appear will be traded after all.

More from Kansas City Royals

  • Danny Duffy – Duffman has had an up and down type of season (what else is new?), but after back and forth speculation about his future in Kansas City, it appears he’s safe. The silliest storyline was his Twitter bio not having anything Kansas City related in it. Come on people.
  • Whit Merrifield – There was strong discussion at one point of Whit Merrifield being dealt, but it appears it won’t be happening… at least not this year. Dayton Moore told the media that Merrifield wouldn’t be traded this season and I’d say that’s a good indicator.
  • Salvador Perez – While there never appeared to be serious discussions of trading Salvador Perez, it would have made sense if the Royals had opened up that possibility publicly. Perez is in his late 20s and by the time the team starts to become a contender again, he’ll be past his prime.

The trade deadline is on Tuesday afternoon, so the Kansas City Royals have some time to trade a few more guys if they decide to go that route. Lucas Duda will hopefully be flipped for a prospect or two and while it’d be great if Alcides Escobar was dealt, I’m not going to hold my breath on that one.

Who do you think will get traded by Tuesday’s deadline?
