Kansas football fans haven’t had much to cheer about over the last decade, but with a new AD in town, things should be getting better for the Jayhawks.

More from Kansas Jayhawks

If David Beaty goes anything worse than 2-1 in non-conference games, then don’t be surprised if he’s fired quickly into the season. The Jayhawks shouldn’t be losing to MAC schools and they certainly shouldn’t drop a game to a school like Nicholls State.

Beaty hasn’t had any success in Lawrence, but the Jayhawks have kept him around because they know hiring a new head coach and starting over from scratch can be taxing on everyone. This is year four for Beaty though and if he doesn’t show improvement against teams Kansas should be beating, then it’s time for him to be shown the door.

Kansas football has to get things turned around, but sadly, this might not be the year for that turnaround to happen. Perhaps, however, it can be a stepping stone in the right direction to getting this program on the right track when it comes to winning.
