The Kansas City Chiefs hosted cornerback Bashaud Breeland on Tuesday and Wednesday, but the former Redskin left town without a deal. The drama ensues.

Bashaud Breeland made it through his visit with the Oakland Raiders over the weekend and still wanted to visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Tuesday. Breeland spent time with the team in St. Joseph on Tuesday and continued to hang around the team on Wednesday, which seemed interesting.

Chiefs Kingdom seemed to think a deal was right around the corner for the two sides, but nothing ever came of it. It was weird for a player not signed with a team to hang around another team for two days at training camp, but Breeland departed St. Joseph, and Kansas City, without a deal.

As Field Yates tweeted (which was when we all heard that the two hadn’t worked out a contract), Breeland could still decide to sign with the Chiefs, but he’s going to go on his other visits. His next one will be with the Colts and he’ll also have one with the Browns.

To say that Chiefs fans want Bashaud Breeland on their team is an understatement. This guy would make fans feel much more confident in their secondary for many reasons. For one, he’s a talented cornerback and that seems kind of important here.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

He had a deal in place with the Panthers for three years, but it fell through when he failed his physical. The Panthers had faith in Breeland to help their secondary, but it didn’t work out. He’s worth the money and just has to pass his physical in order to play for a team.

The second reason is that Breeland played in Washington D.C. with current Chiefs corner Kendall Fuller and the two seemed to gel well together. Having Breeland in Kansas City could keep Fuller at the top of his game, even with the two in a new city and wearing new uniforms.

Lastly, the secondary needs help. Marcus Peters was traded for peanuts and it left a big hole in the secondary. Fuller should be good, but having a former teammate of his on the opposite side of the field will only help the new Chief and the rest of the rebuilding Chiefs defense take strides this season.

Hopefully Bashaud Breeland concludes his other visits and still decides he wants to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs. It seemed imminent that he was going to join the Kingdom, but no one can really blame him for wanting to check out other options.
