KC Chiefs fans think Super Bowl victory will come in next five years

Most KC Chiefs fans have not seen the team participate in a Super Bowl in their lifetime. Chiefs Kingdom is still keeping the faith, however, and thinks a championship is coming in the next half decade.

Unless you’re over the age of 50, you haven’t seen the Kansas City Chiefs play in a Super Bowl. The thought of it has almost become an impossible dream, as year after year the fans are let down by their favorite football team.

With Patrick Mahomes taking the reigns in 2018, a lot of fans seem more confident in this organization moving forward. Sure, Alex Smith was good enough to get the team to the playoffs, but as we all know, the Chiefs didn’t make it past the divisional round in any of those postseason appearances.

With all of the hype surrounding Mahomes, I put a poll up on our Twitter page with the question “Do you think the #Chiefs will win a Super Bowl in the next five years?” The results, if you read the title of the article, will not shock you.

I was a little surprised that it was this big of a swing in favor of yes. I get that the poll was directed at Chiefs fans so the results are going to be a bit skewed, but with all of the bad postseason mojo that’s surrounded this organization for decades, it’s strange to see so much optimism all because of one guy taking over at quarterback. That one guy has started one game and didn’t throw a touchdown pass in that game.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

In case you were wondering, I voted no for various reasons. The first being that I really don’t think the Kansas City Chiefs will ever win a Super Bowl in my lifetime (I meant that). I didn’t think the Royals would win a World Series either, so there’s the silver lining. Anything is possible I guess.

The second reason I voted no is that I’m a negative Nancy when it comes to the KC Chiefs. I got my hopes up in 2016 and legitimately cried when the Chiefs couldn’t beat the Steelers, who didn’t even score a freaking touchdown. That was the season in which I banked on the Chiefs to make it to the Super Bowl and they fell well short of the goal. The trust was broken from that point on.

This isn’t a post knocking Patrick Mahomes whatsoever. I think the kid will be a good quarterback, but that isn’t all it takes to win a Super Bowl these days. The Chiefs will literally have to be clicking on all cylinders in every facet of the game in order to reach the ultimate peak of professional football and I don’t see it happening within five years.

I love the optimism though from Chiefs Kingdom and hope you all are right and that I’m wrong. It wouldn’t be the first time after all.
