Kansas City Royals first round pick Brady Singer dazzled during his start in Game 1 of the Super Regionals between Florida and Auburn. Royals fans have to be happy with how their first rounder performed.

The College World Series brings on the most amount of pressure for college baseball players and Kansas City Royals draft pick Brady Singer has excelled during his appearances in the biggest event in the sport. Singer took the mound for the Florida Gators in Game 1 against the Auburn Tigers and twirled a beaut of a performance.

Singer struggled early, giving up two runs in the first three innings, but settled in for innings four through seven and not allowing any runs during that time. He didn’t get much help from his defenders early on, but his offense stepped up later and put up seven runs.

Singer allowed four hits, two runs, two walks, and struck out nine on the day in 6.2 innings while throwing 118 pitches. He also got the win.

More from Kansas City Royals

For Royals fans, this was a great sign of what’s hopefully to come for their first rounder. Singer faced trouble early, but didn’t let that phase him. He remained calm, settled in, and dominated through the final 2.2 innings that he appeared in.

On the other side, first overall pick by the Tigers and future Royals rival Casey Mize only went five innings and surrendered six runs. I know this is one matchup between the two, but it’s nice to say “Scoreboard” for Royals fans.

Hopefully this will be a pitching rivalry we get to see frequently in the big leagues. Singer out dueled the first overall pick and that’s worth bragging about, even if it was just one game.

The fun hasn’t stopped yet for the Kansas City Royals, as their second pick in the draft, Jackson Kowar, is starting Game 2 tomorrow for the Gators. Kowar was taken 33rd overall and is the number two starter behind Brady Singer. Wouldn’t it be cool if that became a staple in the Royals rotation in the next few years?

While there hasn’t been a connection to the Florida Gators for Royals fans, we’ll all be pulling for them to make a run in the College World Series so that we can see as much from our two new draft picks as possible!

Brady Singer looked tremendous in this start and if that’s a sign of what’s to come, bring it on, man. Royals fans just got REAL excited about what the future has in store. Good luck to Jackson Kowar on Sunday! Keep us excited!
