By Kyle Hull
5) The Patrick Mahomes era
Last season was fun, correct? The team was able to have a successful regular season, but the same thing cannot be said about the playoffs.

Quarterback Smith, and his team were unable to get over the wall that blocks the Chiefs from an AFC West Championship visit, once again. Yes, Smith had a successful career with the Kansas City Chiefs.
However, he unsuccessfully helped his team in the post-season, which ultimately ended his career with the Chiefs. It was simply time to move on, to better the chances for the organization.
This now creates space for the young quarterback Patrick Mahomes II to take matter into his own hands. As everyone knows, Mahomes sat out last season to better his transition from college to professional football.
While Smith was directing the offense in 2017, Mahomes sat back, and soaked it all in, like a sponge. Now that Smith is gone, Mahomes, a 22-year old 2nd year player has big shoes to fill.
With Mahomes’ incredible talent, I have no worries about if Mahomes can’t become the franchise quarterback that the teams needs. His arm-strength, maturity, and the weapons he has on offense, there is no reason for him to struggle all-around as the new quarterback.
Yes, there will be plenty of growing pains, but that is just part of the whole gig. Aside from the growing pains, I guarantee you that Mahomes will be the quarterback the organization has been on the search for.
Buckle up, because the Mahomes era is upon us. Trust me, you are going to have so much fun watching the “Next NFL Gunslinger” grow into one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
