The highly anticipated season of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes as the starter is just a few months away.

Let’s face it, the excitement for the Patrick Mahomes era brings an unexplainable desire to Kansas City Chiefs fans and to Chiefs Kingdom.  Ever since the trade-up in the 2017 NFL Draft, the wait has stunk. Assuming we all look at it the same way, Week 17 in the 2017 season only teased for what the future holds, with improvement along the way.

The victory against the Denver Broncos developed a higher need for the Mahomes era. Sure, the 0:1 touchdown to interception ratio dwells in our thoughts, but what about the 22/35 and the 284 total yards? Not too shabby for a rookie debut.

Before you get to thinking it, if you haven’t already – let me stop you while I am ahead. This is not an article dogging on Alex Smith, rather, it is just a simple friendly reminder that the wait is almost over.

A simple “thank you” to Smith for what he did for franchise is far from enough, but the NFL is business first, sentimental value next. Smith failed to get the Chiefs to the ultimate goal, which only means a change must come.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Having such a young and raw prospect taking over a franchise brings plenty of risks. However, Mahomes will bring maturity to the table, as quarterback number one. Some people call him a gunslinger, some people call him a risk, however, I call him an opportunity.

Wait, an opportunity? Yes, you read that right. How long must the drought be, for the Kansas City Chiefs to find their name as their franchise quarterback? I am going to take a comfortable step and be bold, by saying “the Kansas City Chiefs found their guy.”

Mahomes is going to bring a whole new dynamic to the organization, if he has not already. What I mean by that is, the Chiefs have a guy who is wise beyond his years, with room to grow and the desire to perfect his craft.

Yes, the boldness in this article is probably at a 150% respectively, but why not? Why not have faith in this guy? I mean, the Chiefs went and got their guy last season for a reason and gave up plenty of draft capital in doing so.

So, to wrap this up, let me say this: The wait is winding down. The wait for the Sunday’s that entails number 15 wowing the Kansas City Chiefs franchise, players, and fans. If this 500+ word article doesn’t do the trick, let me sum it up for you. If this doesn’t pump you up, nothing will.

“Mahomes takes the snap, he looks left, finds nothing. Mahomes still looking, he slings it deep, he’s got a man! It’s Tyreek Hill! TOUCHDOWN! KANNNNN-SAS CITY! It’s a 50-yard bomb from Patrick Mahomes to Hill! What an unbelievable throw by Mahomes, while under duress!”

So, did it work? I mean, you can’t say I didn’t try.
