2018 NFL Draft: KC Kingdom Mock Draft
Miami Dolphins – Leigh Oleszczak
The Dolphins are in a weird spot this year. They don’t necessarily HAVE to draft a quarterback, but Ryan Tannehill hasn’t shown a whole lot throughout his six years as an NFL signal caller.
When the Buccaneers were on the clock, Miami came calling because three of the top four quarterbacks in this year’s draft were already off the board. The Dolphins don’t risk losing out and actually get who some believe to be the best talent in the draft in Sam Darnold.
Should the Fins go this route, Darnold could use a year of sitting behind Tannehill and then could take the reigns in 2019. It’d take a haul to get him, but Miami won’t mind if Darnold does indeed pan out.
Staff Reaction: This move would signal the end of Ryan Tannehill in Miami. Darnold is a USC quarterback with turnover issues making this all in pick scary for the Dolphins. Tannehill may not be great, but he’s not horrible either. I’m not sure you bet the farm on a risky choice like Darnold. – Britt Zank
