The second game of the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2018 schedule has been leaked and it’s another primetime affair for the Chiefs. They’ll face the New England Patriots under the lights in week six.
The official NFL season isn’t released until Thursday night, but the Kansas City Chiefs now know when two of their games are taking place for sure. The first is obviously their Monday Night Football game in Mexico City against the Rams and now a second has been announced.
That second leaked game is the Chiefs traveling to Foxboro for a date on Sunday Night Football on October 14th. This is the second straight year in which the Chiefs have played the Patriots during the regular season in primetime.
Last year, the Chiefs had the honor of being in the NFL opener against the Patriots. No one was giving the Chiefs any chance to win that game and not only did they win, but they won by two touchdowns. It was a glorious time!

This time around, the Chiefs will see the Patriots in week six, but it’ll still be a primetime game. This is a different Chiefs team, but the NFL obviously has high hopes for Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and company to be a good team, as they’ve already granted them two primetime games.

Usually when a team trades away their quarterback and decides to roll with (basically) a rookie, the hype isn’t through the roof. While Mahomes will certainly see his fair share of growing pains, he’s obviously already exciting those who put the schedules together.
This game against the Patriots will be a fun one. While there’s been a lot of talk lately that Tom Brady “hasn’t announced he’s returning“, we all know that’s fake news. Brady will be back and this will be one of the toughest games on Kansas City’s schedule in 2018.
This will be the fourth time in the last five years in which the Chiefs and Patriots have squared off although the 2015 season was a playoff match-up. Three of those four games have been in Foxboro.
The last time the Kansas City Chiefs hosted the Patriots at Arrowhead was in 2014 on Monday Night Football. The Chiefs won that game 41-14 in what was an unforgettable night for Kansas City with both that event and the Royals Wild Card Game taking place the next day.
It’d sure be nice for the Chiefs to get to host the Patriots, but at least for now, they’re getting the respect they deserve in the form of primetime games.
