The Kansas City Chiefs 2018 schedule has been released and the Chiefs will play under the lights in five games throughout the regular season.

Yay! The 2018 Kansas City Chiefs schedule is officially here! The biggest story, of course, is that the Chiefs have five primetime games on their schedule, with four of them coming on the road and only one taking place at Arrowhead.

The one home primetime game will be in week 15 against the Los Angeles Chargers for Thursday Night Football. The other four primetime games will be against Denver (Monday Night Football – week four), New England (Sunday Night Football – week six), Los Angeles Rams (Monday Night Football – week 11), and Seattle (week 16 – Sunday Night Football).

The other big question is what will the first four games look like? Well, the Chiefs are only home for one of those games as well. They’ll travel to Los Angeles to play the Chargers for the first game of the season with another away game against Pittsburgh scheduled for week two.

In the third week of the season, the Chiefs will finally host their season opener with the San Francisco 49ers coming to town. After that, they’ll hit the road yet again for the Monday night affair against the Denver Broncos.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs don’t have more than two games in a row at Arrowhead. Weeks seven and eight they’ll host the Bengals and the Broncos and in weeks 14 and 15 they’ll welcome in the Ravens and the Chargers for that Thursday night game. The bye week is in week 12.

The final game of the regular season will be against the Raiders in Kansas City in what could potentially be the deciding game for the AFC West crown.

To be honest, I’m disappointed with how this schedule shook out. The Chiefs play all but one primetime game on the road and are playing a heavy road schedule to begin the year. That could put them in a hole early and obviously no fan wants that.

It’s good to see that the NFL rewarded the Kansas City Chiefs with five primetime games though. Sometimes when a new quarterback (especially a young one) takes the reigns, the NFL might doubt that team’s potential. Obviously the likes of Travis Kelce, Kareem Hunt, Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, Eric Berry, and Justin Houston was enough to keep the Chiefs on the “Must Watch” list.

What do you think of the Chiefs schedule?
