We’re all excited for Opening Day and it’d be nice if the Kansas City Royals could exceed expectations this year.

While I don’t think the Royals are going to be making much of a playoff push this season, they also might not be as bad as we initially thought they would be. The additions of Duda and Jay were solid one-year acquisitions that can fill areas of need while bringing back Esky and Moose will obviously please the fan base.

More from Kansas City Royals

It’s not going to be as fun of a ride as the 2013-2017 seasons were, but all good things must come to an end and that’s where we’re at now with the KC Royals. While winning is certainly fun, the Royals could benefit from getting some prospects and might be able to get to the playoffs sooner than we all expected.

I would be absolutely floored if the Royals were in playoff contention come the end of summer time, but that’s what makes baseball so great. If the Royals struggle, however, we all sort of expected that and it’s not like bad baseball is anything new to the people of Kansas City.
