The Kansas City Royals don’t have as many familiar faces this season, but there are still quite a few that fans should know. The ones we don’t know are the most exciting to follow when it comes to spring training though.

For some of these guys listed here, they might not be making it to the majors this season. Ryan O’Hearn will probably have the toughest time, but playing first base should help him pad his reasons to be promoted.

More from Kansas City Royals

Samir Duenez is the youngest, but should be a prospect that we hear a lot about until he’s called up. He’s only 21 years old, but has shown real flashes of excellence in the farm system. He could be the first baseman of the next few years.

Wily Peralta probably has the best chance of making the major league team, but he’ll likely be a bullpen arm. He was not good for the Brewers last season and the Royals have plenty of options to start in their rotation.

Sam Gaviligio is 27 years old, but just pitched in the majors for the first time last year. He did well in limited action for Kansas City and 2018 is his time to shine, whether it be in the rotation or out of the pen.

Last, but not least, Ryan Goins, a utility player, who is a spring training invite. He’ll have to fight for a roster spot, but his versatility definitely makes him appealing to keep around. He’s a poor man’s Whit Merrifield and hopefully he performs well enough for the team to keep him around.

Who are some prospects or invites that you’re high on, but it seems they’re not being discussed?
