Kansas City Chiefs: 5 former Chiefs that could return in 2018
By Ben Almquist
#1 Dontari Poe – DT – Falcons
The biggest story line of the offseason for the Kansas City Chiefs last year was who would they keep: Eric Berry or Dontari Poe? Of course, we all know how that played out, but now there is quite a plot twist. Poe is a free agent again after a one-year contract, and the Chiefs will have the cap space to sign him this year!

The market on Dontari Poe’s services may have been set last year. Poe left the Chiefs thinking he was going to sign a big contract. KC obviously thought the same thing as they quickly brought in Bennie Logan. Then out of nowhere, Poe ended up signing an almost identical contract as that of Logan’s.
If teams aren’t going to be willing to pay Dontari Poe at the high rates of guys like Ndomukong Suh, then it makes sense for him to return to KC. The Chiefs system can use Poe in a way that highlights his abilities. He also knows the players around him and can have a certain level of comfort.
As long as the contract makes sense for Kansas City, this seems like it’s an ideal match. It doesn’t solve all of the Chiefs defensive problems, but it would make a significant impact.
This is going to be an important offseason for the future of the Kansas City Chiefs. They should have plenty of resources to improve this team. In some cases, a reunion with former players will definitely make sense. We just have to wait and see how it all plays out.
