Super Bowl LII is on Sunday and Kansas City Chiefs fans couldn’t care less. Can you really blame them?

Normally Super Bowl Sunday is exciting, but the buzz just isn’t quite there this year. There are a lot of reasons why Kansas City Chiefs fans don’t give a crap about Super Bowl LII, but the biggest one is quite simple: Chiefs Kingdom thought their team could actually get to the final game this year.

Obviously that didn’t happen, which is disappointing. Even after a 5-0 start to the 2017 season, the Chiefs couldn’t keep the momentum going. They fell flat on their faces and ended the year with a 10-6 record, which was good enough to win the AFC West, but led to yet another early exit from the playoffs.

Perhaps another reason why Chiefs fans are a little bitter about the big game this year is that they knocked off both participants in the Super Bowl. In weeks one and two of the regular season, the Chiefs defeated both the Patriots and the Eagles, and both were in rather convincing fashion.

Of course, it’s worth noting that the Chiefs were a completely different team in those two games, but still. When we look back at the record books, the Chiefs were the victors in both of those games.

When looking at the storylines for this year’s Super Bowl, there’s nothing to really discuss. Everyone is sick of the New England Patriots being there every year, so nothing to report there.

As for the Eagles, it’d be a much more compelling game had Carson Wentz not gone down with an injury earlier in the year. Nick Foles at quarterback doesn’t do a lot for anyone.

It’d be cool to see Foles pull off the upset, but does anyone actually see that happening? I sure as heck don’t. That’s because I’ve watched the Patriots “defy the odds” time and time again.

Honestly, this is the first Super Bowl in a long time where I haven’t cared at all. Of course I’ll still watch it (I did at one point say I wouldn’t), but it’ll be mainly for the half time performance and to see if the commercials are any good. Let’s be honest though, when was the last time that Super Bowl commercials were actually funny?

Hopefully the Patriots dynasty is over soon and we don’t have to sit through another Super Bowl with them as the AFC representative. It’s gotten tiresome. I guess I’m just bitter that my team, after such a promising start, fell short once again.

What’s it going to take for me to see the Kansas City Chiefs in a Super Bowl? I’ve waited my whole life for that moment and it has to happen eventually, right? RIGHT?
