For Kansas City Chiefs fans, the playoffs are always going to bring a nervous energy around town. This weekend, however, the Chiefs are playing a team that have appeared to have their number.

It might sound weird for Kansas City Chiefs fans to be nervous for this weekend’s Wild Card game at Arrowhead, but I completely understand it. For one, the Chiefs haven’t won a home playoff game since 1994. Second, the Tennessee Titans are no slouch and they’ve gone 2-1 against the Chiefs in the Andy Reid era.

The one time the Chiefs beat the Titans under Reid was during his first year in Kansas City, and even then, the Titans gave the Chiefs quite a scare. In their previous two games against Tennessee, the Chiefs have stumbled, especially last year.

Kansas City was finally in a place to take over the AFC West and leave the Oakland Raiders in the dust, but a last second loss to the Titans occurred at Arrowhead. That left the Chiefs to once again fight for their lives in the race for the division title.

In that game, the Chiefs got off to a hot start (despite it being in the single digits outside) and scored two touchdowns on their first two drives. After that, the offense completely vanished and the Titans were able to capitalize off the Chiefs’ bad offensive production and an atrocious Alex Smith interception late in the game.

That game was certainly ugly, but it wasn’t the worst the Chiefs have played against the Titans. No, in Kansas City’s season opener in 2014, the Chiefs got absolutely curb stomped by Tennessee at Arrowhead.

Alex Smith was picked off three times and the Chiefs were completely inept against a Titans team that ended the year going 2-14. One of those two wins came against Kansas City.

That 2014 Titans team is completely different from the one in Nashville now, but Tennessee proved they can still hang with the Chiefs last year. For the people thinking “This is a home game, no way the Titans will win”, well… They came into Arrowhead last year and did just that.

Should the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Tennessee Titans on Saturday? Yes, they absolutely should. There’s a reason teams play the games, however, and with an already embarrassing playoff history, the Chiefs really have to take this game seriously and not look too far ahead.

Do the Titans scare you at all or do you think the Chiefs will win in convincing fashion on Saturday?
