Kansas City Chiefs: Coaching Carousel Opportunities

Indianapolis Colts

Of course the top team on the list of who might steal a Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach has to be the Indianapolis Colts. New GM Chris Ballard was previously with the Chiefs, and he knows the coaching staff well. It seems highly unlikely that he wouldn’t at least give an interview to them.

The Colts are in a state of flux as they wait to hear what the future of Andrew Luck will be like. That is the biggest issue facing this team right now. Apart from that, the defensive rebuild still continues. It’s hard to say just what this team will look like in the next three years.

Matt Nagy: Whether the Colts get Andrew Luck back or not, hiring an offensive coordinator makes sense. Indy will want someone to work with Jacoby Brissett, or a newly drafted quarterback, if Luck can’t play again. Even if Luck does come back, they want someone who can help build around him. Matt Nagy would fit in well here.

Dave Toub: The other line of thinking here is that Indianapolis needs to embrace a balanced approach. If that’s the case, then a coach with no leanings towards offense or defense makes sense. Dave Toub would fit the bill here, plus he has worked with Chris Ballard for quite a while. That’s a pretty good fit.

The Kansas City Chiefs have developed a strong reputation for their assistant coaches around the league. These coaches will certainly be getting opportunities to interview for a number of jobs. That’s just what happens with successful teams in the NFL.
