The Kansas City Chiefs have won their division and secured a playoff game at home. Patrick Mahomes should start in Denver, and here are the reasons why.

In a playful attempt to counter Ben Almquist’s “5 reasons Patrick Mahomes will not start Sunday” we will look at those reasons he gave to support his claims. In a counter piece I will give my reasons why I think he is wrong and add just a little more sugar.

Patrick Mahomes will indeed start Sunday at Denver, in the last game of the regular season. A quarterback most, if not all Chiefs fans have been looking forward to seeing. Andy Reid will be giving the majority of starters some time off as the Chiefs have a home playoff game coming the week after.

There are plenty of opinions on starting Mahomes over Smith in this situation, some of those were included in Ben’s piece earlier in the week. However, as his title suggested, he took the intriguing route of why he won’t, or shouldn’t play. Roles will be reversed here.

The Chiefs organization will get to see what the future will look like. What pieces need to be added to help Patrick Mahomes become successful. For not only next season, but seasons to come. The Kansas City Chiefs will no doubt look much different eight months from now. So this is a must game for not only Chiefs fans to watch, but fans of football in general to pay attention to.
