Kansas City Chiefs: Do not sleep on the Miami Dolphins

The Kansas City Chiefs appear to be back on track after dominating the Los Angeles Chargers this past Saturday. While the Chiefs are heavy favorites over the Dolphins this weekend, don’t count the Fins out.

If there’s one thing that’s evident in sports, it’s to never count out an opponent just because they appear vulnerable. The Miami Dolphins are a team that has been very up and down this season and with how well the Kansas City Chiefs are playing, many fans might be a little too cocky heading into this game.

My advice is DON’T DO THAT. When we talk about how inconsistent the Miami Dolphins are, the Kansas City Chiefs are just as inconsistent, if not worse.

Let’s take a look at the Dolphins so far this season, shall we?

After a hurricane forced the Fins into an early bye in the opening week, Miami went 1-0 due to the Chargers kicking struggles. They then lost to the Jets and got shutout by the Saints in London. After upsetting the Titans and Falcons and taking down the Jets in the second match-up, the Dolphins were one of the more confusing teams in the league.

They followed that up with an absolute butt whooping at the hands of the Ravens (40-0 on Thursday Night Football) and struggled over the next few weeks. The only impressive win that the Dolphins had after that was their Monday night victory over the Patriots last week in which Jay Cutler looked like a totally different quarterback.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

So, naturally, in week 15, Cutler and his offense would fall flat on their faces and sputter into a bad loss once again. This team, much like the Chiefs, is so unpredictable and that scares me a lot.

The Chiefs have looked like one of those teams where when doubted, they rise to the occasion, but when they are being favored (like they are in this game), they’ll lose in embarrassing fashion. With a team like the Dolphins coming into Arrowhead on Christmas Eve, the Chiefs should be able to win and clinch their fifth straight winning season.

If, however, Kansas City starts to listen to the hype again, this game could end up much like the Giants, Bills, and Jets games did. I have faith in the Chiefs to win this game, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little bit nervous about A) Which Dolphins team shows up (and which Jay Cutler decides to get off the plane) and B) Which Chiefs team shows up.

Will we get the electric Cutler making plays and upsetting the favorite or will it be the Dolphins that can’t get a single point? Will we see the Chiefs from those first five weeks and as of recently or the ones from that horrible losing streak?

Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure… Let’s not sleep on the Miami Dolphins, folks.
