Kansas City Chiefs: Firing Andy Reid would be absolutely ridiculous
The Kansas City Chiefs are on a losing streak at the moment and losing does bad things to a fan base. Fans have gotten so upset that some are even calling for Andy Reid’s job.
Let me start by saying this: Firing Andy Reid would absolutely cripple the Kansas City Chiefs organization. Before Reid joined the Chiefs in 2013, the Chiefs were a laughable organization. The front office was such a joke that Peyton Manning wouldn’t even meet with the Chiefs when he hit free agency in 2012. Remember how much that hurt?
Andy Reid joined the Chiefs in 2013 and he was, without a doubt, the best head coach on the market that offseason. The Chiefs made sure to land him and it’s been a successful ride for Reid in Kansas City.
Since Reid has come to town, he’s led the Chiefs to four straight winning seasons and three playoff appearances during that time. The team even won a playoff game under him in the 2015 season, which people seem to have forgotten about.

Before that, the Chiefs would usually be good for one year and then struggle for two or three seasons seasons before firing yet another head coach. It was never consistent. Andy Reid has brought consistency, at least in the regular season win column and making the playoffs.
Now I get it… Losing sucks and people are mad. No one is happy about the KC Chiefs sitting at 6-5 after starting the season at 5-0. While Reid deserves some of the blame, it’s not all his fault and I feel confident in him to get this team turned around before it’s too late.
Anyone who actually thinks firing Andy Reid is the right idea clearly don’t remember the days of Todd Haley and Romeo Crennel. Haley was a loose cannon who yelled at his players on the sideline and Crennel was the worst head coach in franchise history.
The Chiefs were NOTHING before Reid came to town and they’d be nothing if they fired him. Unfortunately though, I’ve actually seen/heard people suggesting that firing Reid is what the organization should do.
At first I thought these people were joking, but I don’t think so. It’s amazing how quickly fans turn on the head coach, even after four straight winning seasons. Reid has gone 75-49 in his four plus years as the Chiefs main man and that’s impressive for a team who struggled to win after Marty Schottenheimer left in 1998.
Yet, these fans want a change at the head coaching position and I can’t understand why. Is it because of the losing streak? Those people realize the 2012 Chiefs won two games all year, right? They realize wins were hard to come by for many seasons, right? IT HAS BEEN WAY WORSE FOR THE CHIEFS BEFORE.
This was a season where fans expected the team to contend for a Super Bowl so the frustrations are valid, but firing the head coach who made us BELIEVE in those expectations is the stupidest thing I’ve heard. I’m sad I even had to write a post like this.
Chiefs fans of all fan bases should appreciate the fact that the team is in playoff contention nearly every year. Andy Reid made that happen and if the Kansas City Chiefs were to fire him, it’d be the biggest mistake the organization has ever made.
