Royals Rumors: Potential landing spots for Mike Moustakas in free agency
It sucks writing this article, but we all knew this day would come eventually. Mike Moustakas deserves a big contract and if the Royals aren’t willing to be the highest bidders, then they have to expect Moose to move on.
Royals fans adore Mike Moustakas and would love to have him back in Kansas City next season, but it just doesn’t appear to be in the cards for either side. Moose probably wants to head back towards the West Coast and the Royals likely won’t have the money to keep their former first round pick in town.

I did not include the Boston Red Sox on this list because of what Cafardo had said (see Yankees section). The Red Sox have a young third baseman and unless they opted to move him to designated hitter (or put Moustakas there), then signing Moose wouldn’t make much sense.
The Red Sox are usually in free agent discussions due to them having more money than almost every other team in the league, but they don’t appear to be a match for Moustakas. Of course he could end up signing there, but these are the most realistic options right now.
If Mike Moustakas does sign with another team, Royals fans should not be upset with him. Moose accomplished a lot in Kansas City, including winning a World Series, going to two All-Star games, and breaking the single-season home run record. He even participated in the Home Run Derby, which was a blast!

Fans feel a special connection to Moustakas after watching the former first round pick struggle early on in his career and then finally figuring it out in 2015. That 2015 season set the tone for just how great Mike Moustakas could really be as a Major League Baseball player.
Moustakas will always be a fan favorite here and Royals fans wish him the best wherever he goes (except St. Louis).
