The Kansas City Chiefs have dropped three of their last four games and a lot of fans weren’t happy after the Chiefs’ third loss of the season on Sunday. The frustrations were understandable.

Before I dive into my main point here, I want to start by saying this is not an article bashing the Kansas City Chiefs. We should all be fortunate that this organization has given us exciting football and winning seasons over the last five years. It wasn’t always like that for this franchise.

Now, onto the point of my article, which is to vent the frustrations of this fan base at the moment. After getting off to a 5-0 start, KC Chiefs fans were on cloud nine. This team looked poised for a playoff run and Kansas City was dancing with joy.

After back-to-back losses to Pittsburgh and Oakland, however, the fans came back down to Earth. None of us actually thought the Chiefs were going to go 16-0, but this team had looked unbeatable before that loss to Pittsburgh.

The Chiefs will likely win their division, but somehow that just doesn’t seem to be enough anymore.

After the Steelers ran the ball down Kansas City’s throat and torched the secondary, the blueprint was out on how to beat the Kansas City Chiefs. Now other teams know what to do and the Chiefs have been letting the opposition execute with ease.

What’s frustrating about this recent stretch is that fans were convinced this year was different. We were all thinking Super Bowl… then just like that, it was gone. The Chiefs dropped three out of four games, and now the world is ending.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs will likely win their division, but somehow that just doesn’t seem to be enough anymore. This fan base is ready for more than that. Chiefs fans are ready for an AFC Championship appearance and yes, dare I say it… A chance to compete in the Super Bowl.

Making the playoffs is great, but the Chiefs have proven that they can do that and it’s time to get over that hump. If they make it this year, it’d be their third straight year in the postseason. We all would have killed for that five years ago, but this isn’t those same dumpy teams from the 2000s.

The difference now is that this team is better than being a one-and-done in the playoffs. They shouldn’t be losing in their first game, especially when it’s at home. Fans are ready for the KC Chiefs to take that next step, but these last few games haven’t made us feel any differently about them or their chances at contending for a Super Bowl.

So, is it the same old story for these Chiefs? Only time will tell, but we’ve seen how good Andy Reid is after the bye week and the Chiefs’ schedule gets significantly easier upon returning from their bye week.

Let’s be patient and let the season work itself out, Chiefs Kingdom. Perhaps these guys will surprise us this year.
