Week 9 of the 2017 NFL season is in the books. Where do the Kansas City Chiefs stand in our rankings after a big loss vs the Dallas Cowboys?
Yes, it was a tough loss for the Kansas City Chiefs this week. In fact, it has been a tough stretch for the Chiefs over the past four weeks. This team started out incredibly hot, but has definitely been worn down recently. There is no doubt that the BYE week is coming at a perfect moment for them.
However, I’ve got to tell you, if I were doing my rankings based purely off of Twitter reactions, I’d probably be ranking the Chiefs dead last. Good lord, you would think this team had already gone 0-48 and changed cities to share a soccer field with the Chargers. In reality, Kansas City is 6-3 with a solid lead in the division.
Kansas City is still one of the best teams in the NFL. We’ll see that again after the BYE week, as I expect the Chiefs will win most (if not all) of their remaining regular season games. It’s easy to be frustrated, but there is no real reason to be down on this team right now.

Time To Start Paying Attention
It’s no secret that NFL power rankings don’t carry any weight in reality. In fact, for much of the year, rankings are based a lot more on preseason narratives than anything. Now that the 2017 season is past the halfway mark, we have a much better idea of who is who. Rankings can really tell us something now.
For the Kansas City Chiefs, what we know is pretty clear. This is currently the best team in the AFC West, and one of the best teams in all of football. A lot of fans have lost sight of that recently, but it still holds true. The Chiefs will be towards the top of our rankings this week, and deservedly so.
Who fills in that top slot in our rankings? Well, you gotta read to figure that out, but there is a good chance that you already know the answer to that question. Of course, it’s not about where they are now. It’s about where they are going to be at the end of the year.
