Having gone 1-3 in their last four games, the Kansas City Chiefs are heading into their BYE week. This is perfect timing for a team in need of some adjustments.

The Kansas City Chiefs suffered their third loss in four weeks this past Sunday as they fell to the Dallas Cowboys 17-28. It wasn’t a particularly impressive showing for the Chiefs as they were largely outplayed the entire game. It’s a sign that this team needs a break. Fortunately, the BYE week is here.

It has been a rough stretch for KC in recent weeks. Injuries have mounted while the Chiefs played a pretty brutal schedule. We all knew that this would be a difficult point of the season for Kansas City. However, it does appear that the worst of the 2017 season is now behind us.

Kansas City is one of just eight teams left in the NFL that hasn’t had their BYE week yet. The Chiefs, along with the Raiders, Eagles, and Ravens, will all get some extra time now to rest and make adjustments. If history tells us anything, it’s that Andy Reid knows how to make good use of this time.

Expect Some Changes

A late BYE week can actually be a big advantage for an NFL team. The Kansas City Chiefs have had ample opportunity to test some things on the field. There is plenty of film for the coaching staff to work with. That makes it easier for a team to put some changes in place. We have seen the Chiefs do this in the past.

Some of the biggest changes that are likely coming are in terms of personnel. Fans have been wondering for a while when Parker Ehinger would get back into the starting mix on the offensive line. This represents the best opportunity for that to happen.

This is also a chance for the coaching staff to really work with some of the players who have been struggling some this year. Don’t be surprised if we seer Terance Mitchell return to a major role after having some time to work on things. In fact, I would expect the secondary to have a different feel altogether come November 19th.

High Expectations Still Warranted

There are many Kansas City Chiefs fans who are down on this team right now. The frustration is understandable with the recent weeks. However, this is still a very good team that is going to win many more games than they lose this year. In fact, there is no reason to be counting the Chiefs out of the Super Bowl hunt.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs have some problems that need to be addressed. So does every team in the NFL. KC fans should remember that there isn’t any team in the NFL that is undefeated. In fact, the consensus #1 and #2 teams at this point in the season (Eagles and Patriots), share something in common…they’ve both lost to Kansas City.

The schedule lightens up dramatically for Kansas City as we head down the final stretch of the season. The Chiefs should pull out quite a few wins to finish 2017. In fact, it is not crazy to think that they could finish the year undefeated. Don’t go jumping off of the bandwagon just yet.

The Kansas City Chiefs were in big need of this BYE week. We know that Andy Reid will be putting in quite a bit of work over the next two weeks to get the Chiefs where they need to be. Kansas City has a talented team, and they are going to win a lot more games this year. Maybe everyone needed a break though.
