There was a lot of frustration after the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Some of those frustrations got too personal for some Chiefs players.

Having lost three of their last four games, there are a lot of frustrations surrounding the Kansas City Chiefs right now. Many fans are upset with how the team has performed in recent weeks. With the social media era, those fans have an active outlet for expressing their anger directly to the players. It may have been too much this week.

For the most part, the players on the Kansas City roster are very outgoing and interactive with their fans. They interact over social media, are very active in the community, and generally display an affection for the city as a whole. For about 90% of the year, that affection is returned by the fan base.

The other 10% of the year covers those times that Kansas City is coming off of a loss. That when this fan base seems to just absolutely lose their minds. You’ve probably noticed that if you read my Hot Takes articles. There is no limit to the hilarity/stupidity that we see in Chiefs Kingdom after a loss.

However, this week was just too much.

Players Shoot Back

Chiefs Twitter was an absolute nightmare Sunday night. The doom and gloom was just ridiculous for a 6-3 team. I knew it was bad, but didn’t realize just how out of control it was until Albert Wilson spoke out on it. Wilson hit the nail on the head. Are fans giving up on the Kansas City Chiefs already?

I wish I could say that was as bad as it got. However, it would seem that some fans decided to take it to a personal level. Enough so that the ever level-headed Chris Conley felt that he had to address the issue. Conley did so with a good bit of bite in his words, and it seems a lot of fans didn’t appreciate that.

I can’t say that I know for sure what Chris Conley is referring to, but I’m not doubting him. We’ve all seen too much on Twitter to think that this would be made up. Sure, it doesn’t apply to all fans. I dare say it doesn’t even apply to most fans. However, I think we all know that there are more than enough out there that this is applicable to.

Keep It In Perspective

I’m a die hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, and I always will be. Most of you reading this are too. However, that doesn’t mean that any of us should be turning into goons just because things aren’t going well. It’s perfectly fine and acceptable to be upset with a loss. It’s not ok to start attacking players personally over it.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

This isn’t about being a fan though. It’s about just being a decent person. That’s all these guys are asking for. Chris Conley put it perfectly with his tweet. You can be critical of this team without being a complete jerk. No matter how invested in this team’s success you think you are, these guys are putting much more on the line.

We need to do better Chiefs Kingdom. We like to promote ourselves as one of the best fan bases in the NFL. That shouldn’t just be the case when things are going our way. That should be pretty easy right now, given all of the recent success of this Kansas City team. There is a lot to be happy about. So focus on that.

The Kansas City Chiefs are still one of the best teams in the NFL right now. Despite a rough stretch of games, the Chiefs still hold a solid lead in the AFC West. With the BYE week coming up, you can expect the coaching staff and players to make a number of adjustments for the rest of the season. This team will start winning again.
