ROYALS FREE AGENTS THIS WINTER – MIKE MOUSTAKAS

If the Royals can’t keep Hosmer, will they try and keep Mike Moustakas? Moose had a great year in 2017 too, smashing 38 home runs for his squad. Imagine how many more homers Moustakas could have crushed had he played in a smaller stadium. That could play into his decision this winter.

The teams I’ve seen linked with Moustakas the most have been West Coast teams like the Angels and the Giants, both of which make sense. Moustakas is from California and him wanting to return home wouldn’t be shocking at all.

Recently, Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch went through some potential names for the St. Louis Cardinals and had Moustakas listed there. Hummel’s reasoning was that Moose is under 30 and crushed a lot of home runs last year. He’s not wrong there.

The hopes of keeping Moustakas in a Royals uniform are slim, but perhaps if Hosmer signs elsewhere, he’ll become Kansas City’s top priority.
