Wins aren’t always pretty, but they’re still wins. The Chiefs are 6-2 and the meat of their schedule is just about over with.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Next up are the Dallas Cowboys, who will probably beat the Chiefs next Sunday in Jerry World. If Ezekiel Elliott’s suspension holds up, that favors Kansas City obviously, but if not, ooh boy… This run defense will get trounced.

At 6-2, it’s hard to be disappointed at all with this team. Sure, the losses were both gross, but if you had told me the 2017 KC Chiefs would be 6-2 at this point in the season, I’d have easily taken that. I’d probably have assumed the losses came to New England and Pittsburgh, one of which was true.

After the Cowboys next weekend, the Chiefs will have a much needed bye week and then their schedule is a lot less daunting. The New York Giants will be waiting for them in the Big Apple in week 11 and the Giants have not been good. In fact, they’ve been terrible.

Looking around the AFC West, Monday’s victory was even more critical, as the Chiefs now have a three-game lead on the second place team. KC is 6-2, Denver dropped to 3-4, and Los Angeles and Oakland are both at 3-5. It’d take a major collapse for the Chiefs to lose the division, but there’s still a lot of football left to be played this season.
