If college football had exhibition games, Kansas football would lose those too.

If you have become a fan of David Beaty then I suggest you quit reading now. Kansas football is a disgrace and it’s time for a change.

It’s time to let Bill Self coach the football team. Give him four hours a week with the program and you will find a better team than what David Beaty has shown us for his tenure.

See that door coach Beaty? Go right ahead and walk through it,  please don’t look back, just keep on going far, far away.

Beaty is a prime example of when someone says it can’t get any worse and they’re wrong. The term “You got Beatied” should be trending soon.

More from Kansas Jayhawks

I challenge you as a reader to find me a team that sucks more than Kansas does. If you find that team, then imagine the Jayhawks playing them for four quarters. Now we should be on the same page.

Beaty doesn’t deserve to sleep tonight as he should be packing his things. Why is it we must wait for a man to get fired now days?

Have some self-respect and step down. At least in that scenario you will salvage whatever respect the fans still have for you, as well as any chance to coach again at any level.

But Kansas is a basketball school

KU may be a basketball school, that doesn’t mean you have to put out straight garbage onto the field. Other “basketball schools” have been able to succeed.

Perhaps succeed is too strong of a word here, let’s go with compete.

The game of football changes very little in the grand scheme of things. These kids on the Kansas roster have played football most of their lives.

I don’t blame these players one bit. Every ounce of blame goes to David Beaty and his coaching staff and they don’t deserve to be mentioned by name. Or maybe they do?

North Carolina is a basketball school, as is Duke. Some Schools excel at both. Michigan State comes to mind right off the bat. Sure these teams aren’t always in a major bowl game or have winning seasons each year, but they compete.

So what’s so hard for Kansas football to get it together? Looking at you Sheahon Zenger. This whole piece is just for you.

Give them what they want

The only thing Kansas football fans want is to compete. Give them a coach that comes in and beats the teams he’s supposed to. That would buy the coach at least half a decade of employment.

Imagine if Kansas won just three games during that coaches first season. They would start to chip away at a new statue in Lawrence.

Give the fans something to smile about. Give them improvement. Instead of allowing 40 points a game just allow 30. Put together a game plan so the team can at least get themselves in a position to score.

Give these fans a fighting chance. Allow them to hope again. Allow them to have something to look forward to during football season.

For the now few who openly admit they are fans of Kansas football, stop the damn abuse.

If there were exhibition games in college football, and there are, the Kansas Jayhawks would lose those too, and they do.

Hire me for a week and I promise I could muster up enough coaching wisdom to at least get into reasonable scoring range. That would be a new, hip thing in Lawrence. If I fail, fire me.

What could be done to the Kansas football program that hasn’t already been done.

Cjeept@gmail.com. Go ahead and send me my contract. It would sell tickets. The brass at Kansas has already made a mockery of the football program.

Next: The Kansas football mindset

Eventually one would think these players will stop coming to KU. Why would they? The phrase “I’m coming to Kansas to play football because I love their basketball program” probably isn’t a phrase ever spoken.

Goodbye Mr. Beaty and thanks for nothing.
