Perhaps the biggest surprise of the 2017 season for the Kansas City Chiefs so far has been the play of quarterback Alex Smith. Essentially working in a contact year, Smith has shown a new level of aggression that we haven’t seen from him before. The Chiefs quarterback has been attacking downfield much more. He’ll need to keep that up this week.
It’s not a stretch to say that the Chiefs offense could be the difference in this game. Kansas City’s defense will have a tough task in stopping the Chargers offense, so this game could become a shootout. If that is the case, then Alex Smith will have to be up to the task.
Alex Smith has been solid through the first two games of the season. The Chargers defense has some tough pieces to it, but overall isn’t as strong as the Patriots or the Eagles. Smith and the offense should be able to move the ball. If that is the case, then the Chiefs should be able to control this game and get the win.
The Kansas City Chiefs are off to a very good start on the 2017 season. That has resulted in them getting a good bit of hype, which means they will be on every team’s radar. The Chiefs should be the better team this week, but the Chargers won’t be pushovers. KC will need to play a strong game on both sides of the ball.
