Kansas State Wildcats Report Card

D. . QB. Kansas State Wildcats. JESSE ERTZ

We start with the Kansas State Wildcats fifth year senior leader on offense and one of the best statistical performers on the young college football season. Jesse Ertz had a forgettable game tonight. Let’s start with the positives for Ertz. He rushed for 126 yards on 24 carries and had a touchdown. That may be it. However, that saves him from the “F”.

Jesse had arguably his worst passing performance in his career. Frankly, I don’t understand why. Part of that was the WR’s who dropped at least seven passes and simply refused to help out Ertz.  However, Ertz also had the type of performance I’d expect out of a first-time, sophomore starter.

Ertz was slow making decisions tonight. He was slow in his passing progression and slow on his run/pass options. K-State has a storied history of second year starting QB’s making huge leaps in performance. Jake Waters and Collin Klein both experienced this growth in the second stint of Coach Snyder. In his first two games, it looked like Ertz was going to join them. He should have been able to pick this team apart. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to.

So when you go 10-28 passing, for 76 yards and 2 ints, you deserve an “F”. His running prevents that low of score.
