The Kansas State Wildcats hit the road against the Vanderbilt Commodores and failed to do much right in a 14-7 loss.

The Kansas State Wildcats had a chance to make a statement and stake claim to being on the same level of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in the Big12. The Wildcats rolled into Nashville like it was a bowl game, with the excitement of what could come. KSU fans took care of their end, but the team did not.

Under Bill Snyder, the first road game of the season has always been dicey. His general strategy is to only run the plays he feels confident in running. It gives fans the feeling that K-State is making the game harder than it should be, but it’s also how Snyder coached teams get better by the end of the year.

I suspect most fans would use the word “frustrated” to explain tonight’s game. And, I would agree 100%. I’m guessing this is the worst K-State will play all year and the worst the coaches will coach. K-State will feel like they let one slip by, because, bluntly, they did. This is not a good Vanderbilt team. And it’s not a good loss for K-State.

When K-Stated played Charlotte, I did a Good/Bad/Ugly article. I don’t feel that’s appropriate today. I want to do a report card so that we can focus on more things that struck me tonight.
