Kansas City Chiefs fans have every reason to be excited right now after a huge Week 1 win. Our open thread for Week 2 breaks down what you need to know.

Coming off of a huge win to open the season, the Kansas City Chiefs are playing at home this week against the Philadelphia Eagles. This week’s game features a ton of connections between the two organizations. Of course, the most notable connection is that Andy Reid was the long-time coach of the Eagles before coming to Kansas City.

The Chiefs are the favorites this week after beating up the Patriots to open the season. However, this game is not an easy one by any means. The Eagles have built a solid roster and have some dangerous weapons. KC will have to make sure they keep their focus in order to avoid a let down game.

Of course all eyes will be on Alex Smith this week. After a huge season debut last Thursday, there are a lot of questions about what we’ll see from Smith this year. With Patrick Mahomes waiting in the wings, the veteran quarterback knows that he has a lot riding on this season. Will we see more of what we got in Week 1…or will he revert back to the old Alex Smith?

After last week’s huge win, the Kansas City Chiefs are favorites against the Eagles. Here’s what we’ve got coming in from our staff at KC Kingdom:

Ben Almquist: Chiefs 27 – Eagles 17

I’m a big believer in this year’s Chiefs squad. I see no reason why KC shouldn’t get the win this week. I think Alex Smith gets them ou

t to an early lead and they don’t look back. This game won’t be as close as the score.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

Leigh Oleszczak: Chiefs 17 – Eagles 14

The Chiefs will give us a scare in this one, as the offense won’t dazzle as much as they did in week one. Cairo Santos kicks the game winning field goal in the final seconds to give KC the win.

Joel Wagler: Chiefs 31 – Eagles 23

Chiefs offense continues to be aggressive while the defense struggles slightly to adjust to life without Eric Berry. The Eagles will threaten several times will stall in the red zone and settle for field goals more often than not.

Jake Barbee: Chiefs 21 – Eagles 27

Chief fans all across America will hate me, but I am betting on a let down from the high of week one. Back and forth game that sees it self go into overtime where Wentz never gives the chiefs a chance by scoring a touchdown on the first drive.

Garrett Coleman: Chiefs 33 – Eagles 30

This is a tough game for me. I’m originally from Philadelphia and spent my childhood between KC and Philly. This is a hard matchup to call even without my personal ties. There’s a lot of offensive firepower on both sides, so this has the potential to be a high scoring matchup. It’s a home game for our Chiefs and Arrowhead is a tough environment to win in. It could come down to the fact that Philly will be without their normal FG kicker.

The Kansas City Chiefs have kicked off the 2017 season with a huge win. Now this team will have to keep the momentum going. The Chiefs have to be sure to win the games they are supposed to win, and this week’s match-up counts as one of those. There are some high expectations in Kansas City this year. Time to live up to them.
