The Kansas City Royals have released their schedule for the 2018 season. The Royals will open up the season against the Chicago White Sox at Kauffman Stadium on March 29th.

Even though some key members of the Kansas City Royals won’t be on the roster in 2018, there will still be baseball to be played in Kansas City! The Royals released their 2018 schedule on Tuesday and this year, interleague play will be against the National League Central.

The interleague schedule will take the Royals to Cincinnati, Milwaukee, and Pittsburgh, and they’ll host the Reds and the Cubs. Of course, the Royals will also see the St. Louis Cardinals, playing home and away series with the Red Birds.

Kansas City will begin the year as hosts to the White Sox on Thursday, March 29th and then will hit the road for Detroit the following week. That first road trip will be wrapped up at Cleveland.

So within the first week, the Kansas City Royals will square off against three of their division rivals, which should give of a small sample size of what to expect for the season.

One of the busiest times at the K this season will definitely be when the Royals host the Chicago Cubs from August 6th-8th. The Cubs are a team where its fans are everywhere and with the Cubbies being the most recent World Series champs (at the moment), you just know they’ll have fans crowding the K for those three games.

When I went to Wrigley in 2015 for the Royals/Cubs series, Royals fans packed that place, so I can only imagine that Cubs fans will politely return the favor. The Cardinals also tend to crowd Kauffman Stadium, but those two teams play every year. The Cubs haven’t been to Kansas City since 2011.

For those of you who want to know when the big stars will be in town, here you go:

  • Mike Trout of the Angels – April 12th-15th
  • Aaron Judge of the Yankees – May 18th-20th
  • Carlos Correa of the Astros – June 15th-17th
  • Kris Bryant of the Cubs – August 6th-8th

It’s always nice to see when the games for next season are so that fans can start planning their baseball trips. Personally, I wouldn’t mind heading out to Pittsburgh to see a Royals/Pirates match-up, which is September 17th-19th.

I’m under the impression that the Kansas City Royals probably won’t be all that competitive in 2018, but some of these games will definitely make it tempting to head out to the ballpark for an afternoon or evening.
