Toughest Games for K-State Football in 2017 – Number 3: West Virginia

Here is K-State’s first home game on this list! For real though, this game has all the makings to be a really (and I mean really!) good game. Both of these teams are going to be contenders in the Big 12. The Wildcats are ranked 20th heading into the season, but West Virginia isn’t far behind, coming in at 22nd.

Truth be told, these two teams have all the potential and the make up to be better than the two Oklahoma schools. I predicted we’d see KSU doing well this year and WVU has the same, if not better, chance to do all those things I said about the Wildcats.

The player to watch for the Mountaineers is of course their new quarterback Will Grier! Sure, there isn’t much to go on from his freshman year at Florida, but never the less Coach Dana Holgorsen is excited to see him this season and “Let Loose”, according to this WVU DieHards Article.

Kansas State was so close to defeating the Mountaineers a year ago in Morgantown, but a sloppy fourth quarter allowed West Virginia to get back into the game and ultimately reign victorious. Before Kansas State fans could even realize what happened, WVU fans were swaying back and forth singing John Denver in the stands.

That won’t happen this year obviously due to the game being in Manhattan, but it’ll still be nice to see the Cats get their revenge on a legit contender in the Big 12.
