SEPTEMBER CALL UPS – TERRANCE GORE

Terrance Gore isn’t as big of a name in the Royals system anymore, mainly because the Royals rarely have to use a pinch runner these days due to the lack of men on base (too soon?). Gore is a one-trick pony in the major leagues and that’s as a pinch runner.

Once Gore’s speed is gone, his MLB career will be no more. He’s yet to record a hit for the Royals during his four seasons with them (albeit he hasn’t had many chances at the plate) and hit his first ever home run for the Stormchasers back in June.

While Gore will more than likely be getting a call-up, we probably won’t see much of him during Royals games. In order for Terrance Gore to get “air time”, the Royals have to be in the need for a speedster on the base paths late in the game to win the game or cushion the lead. We haven’t seen much of that this year and those days for the Kansas City Royals could be caput.

Gore isn’t a free agent until 2023, but it’s tough to imagine him being on the Royals roster for that long. The team should consider trading him for something in the coming years while teams who contend still want that speedster on their squad.
