September call-ups are going to be a much needed asset for the Royals, as this team is just tanking as of lately. Their 43 scoreless innings is embarrassing and it’s evident that this isn’t a playoff-worthy team.

While no superstars are joining the Royals next month, they’ll at least have some insurance on offense and in the bullpen. Brian Flynn can eat some innings if called upon, Ramon Torres can start at third base to give Moose some time off, and we can see what the Royals have with Hunter Dozier.

More from Kansas City Royals

Maybe we’ll see Jorge Soler surge in September and start hitting home runs. Perhaps Raul Mondesi Jr. will finally figure it out at the MLB level. There are a lot of things to look for once these guys do get their September call-up, but will it be enough to propel the Kansas City Royals to the postseason? Don’t count on it.

Including Miguel Almonte and Kyle Zimmer might have been dumb on my end, but there’s the hope that they’ll recover by the end of the season and be able to spend some time in Kansas City helping the team. I didn’t include Bubba Starling, as he’s injured, but it’s been said that there isn’t a chance for him to return this year.

That’s a shame too. I was looking forward to finally getting the chance to see Starling in a Royals uniform in a meaningful regular season game, but it’s looking like it’s not meant to be with ol’ Bubba.

The biggest hope is to see Richard Lovelady get a spot on the roster. He has shown that he’s deserving of throwing some pitches in the big leagues.

Was there anyone of note that I left off for September call-ups? Will these guys contribute anything? Only time will tell.
