Kansas City Chiefs: Cam Erving Trade

New Trade Options

Truth be told, the first thing that came to mind for me when I heard about the Cam Erving trade is that Zach Fulton or Jah Reid are unlikely to be on the team this year. The Kansas City Chiefs are now loaded with players that can fill in at guard. However, the rest of the NFL can’t say the same thing. So look for a trade to happen.

If the Chiefs can find a willing partner, the best option would be to trade off Jah Reid. Trading Reid would open up some more cap space both this year and in 2018. Reid is also the most limited backup that Kansas City has right now. However, with his starting experience, he would still be a valuable piece for some other team.

The player that other teams will likely covet though is Zach Fulton. The Chiefs versatile backup has starting experience at all three interior line positions. Truth be told, Fulton would likely be a starter for a majority of the teams in the NFL. Kansas City is just fortunate to be in a position where they have better options available.

What Kind Of A Deal?

Jah Reid and Zach Fulton have their own varying value as trade pieces, but don’t forget about the possibility of packaging them with a draft pick. That is always a viable option, even though the Chiefs are already down three picks next year.

As far as what to hope for in return…well, I’m still pounding the drum for Jarvis Landry, but there are plenty of options. I would not be surprised to see Kansas City make a move on a wide receiver or a cornerback. The Chiefs have shown that there is some need at both positions.
