Kansas City Chiefs Stock Report

Stock Up: Patrick Mahomes

More from Kansas City Chiefs

So far, Patrick Mahomes has been everything that Kansas City Chiefs fans had hoped for. Mahomes has been very solid in his limited time on the field, throwing three touchdowns already. He has already earned the second string job, which is a big step. The Chiefs are looking pretty smart for trading up for him.

Don’t get it twisted, Patrick Mahomes is not ready to be a starter yet. While the stats and results have been nice, the critical eye can still see big areas for improvement. Mahomes doesn’t yet look comfortable under-center and in the pocket. He also makes far too many cross body throws. It’s exciting to watch him move, but he needs more discipline.

Fortunately, those are all things that can be fixed and the coaching staff is certainly working on that. For now, Patrick Mahomes is showing everyone that he has the necessary talent and ability to get the job done. That’s what is most important for the Chiefs right now.

The Kansas City Chiefs have looked impressive so far in the preseason. There are very few areas where it appears the team is in need of any help right now. This is a strong roster with a lot of talent. Chiefs fans should have every reason to be setting high expectations right now.
