Kansas City Chiefs: 10 Things To Watch Vs The Bengals

#6 Can The Run Defense Continue To Hold Up?

Last week against the 49ers, the Kansas City Chiefs run defense looked much improved over the 2016 season. The Chiefs held the top San Francisco backs to 40 yards on 13 carries, despite being put in very precarious situations early on. It was a solid showing.

Most impressive for the Chiefs was an 11-play stand inside the 10 yard line. During that stand, the 49ers had four run plays called, and gained a total of four yards. That included two opportunities from the one yard line that were both stuffed. That was an area the Chiefs weren’t very good at last year.

Kansas City will get another decent test on the ground this week. The Bengals bring a solid combination of Jeremy Hill, Giovani Bernard, and rookie Joe Mixon to the field. That will definitely test the Chiefs run defense and give us a good idea as to how good they can be.
