Fantasy Football Quarterbacks to Target in 2017 – Number 3: DREW BREES

2016 Ranking: 3rd

Always a nice choice for fantasy football owners is Drew Brees out of New Orleans. Brees, believe it or not, is heading into his 17th year in the NFL and will once again be one of the first quarterbacks off the board in drafts.

Last year Brees threw for 5,208 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. His interception rate is a little higher than the other top quarterbacks, which is why he’s not ranked any higher than third.

With wide receivers Willie Snead and Michael Thomas at his disposal, Brees should have no problem getting his fantasy owners as many points as possible. Last year, he was just one of five signal callers to put up more than 300 points in standard PPR leagues, posting 332.3 for the year.

Brees had several top notch weeks, in which he’d score over 40 points for his team, but then had a few big duds as well. In a week 14 loss to the Bucs, Brees struggled and only earned his squad seven points. Ouch!

Those weeks are very rare for Drew Brees, but he is 38 years old and definitely isn’t what he once was. Still though, Brees is worthy of a high draft pick and I’d recommend selecting him in the second or third round if he’s still available.
