Let’s face it, the bulk of Kansas City Chiefs fans really don’t care about anything else here. Virtually everyone in Kansas City has their eyes set on the future with Patrick Mahomes being the team’s quarterback of the future. So far, Mahomes hasn’t let Chiefs Kingdom down as he’s shown some real talent in practice and preseason action.
All through training camp and the preseason opener, Patrick Mahomes has shown off his big arm and gunslinger mentality. There have been some mixed results, but it has definitely been more positive than negative. However, there is still a ways to go before Mahomes leads this Chiefs team.
While there are some national outlets hoping for a quarterback controversy, the Chiefs have been very clear about their expectations for Patrick Mahomes. He is not considered an option to start this year, and the team intends to develop him throughout 2017. Barring a catastrophe, do not expect that policy to change anytime soon.
The Kansas City Chiefs have some high expectations for the 2017 season, and a roster that can get the job done. We’re quickly approaching the start of the regular season with training camp headed back to Kansas City. Fortunately, we’ve seen quite a bit from the Chiefs so far to keep us thinking this team has the potential to be very good this year.
