Fantasy Football Tight Ends to Target in 2017 – Number 15: JULIUS THOMAS

2016 Ranking: 32nd

Times sure have changed for Julius Thomas. A once dominant tight end for the Denver Broncos has struggled to stay on the field over the past few seasons and is now with his third team in just four seasons.

It’ll be Julius Thomas’ first season with the Miami Dolphins and the former standout Broncos tight end will be itching to get on the field on a regular basis. The Dolphins might have run into trouble when it was first announced that Ryan Tannehill could miss the entire 2017 season, but fear not, because Jay Cutler was signed to lead the charge.

Cutler offers stability for the Fins and he’ll be looking to connect with his big tight end down the field come Sunday. Thomas’ two seasons in Jacksonville didn’t go as planned, with the then Jaguar only putting up 82.1 points in 2016.

While drafting Julius Thomas can certainly pay off in the later rounds, he is absolutely not worth drafting until the way later rounds (I’m talking after round 13 or so). Thomas could either become one of your biggest sleepers and emerge as your week in and week out starting tight end or he could be a complete bust and you’re forced find another option at the position.

We’re past the days of Julius Thomas being a top tight end in fantasy football, but he can still be a manageable one. Just be cautious of his injury history when drafting him.
