Week 16 – Kansas City Chiefs vs Miami Dolphins

Sunday, December 24th, 2017 (12:00 CST kickoff on CBS)

In their third straight home game, the Chiefs will welcome in the Miami Dolphins, a team they haven’t faced since the 2014 season. That resulted in a Chiefs victory and this one more than likely will too.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think the Fins are going to be a bad team, but they’ll be marching into Arrowhead Stadium in the final home game of the regular season. The playoffs will be on the line and I don’t see the Dolphins leaving with a win.

Miami finally took a big step last season, making it to the postseason for the first time since the 2009 season. Ryan Tannehill has always been a mediocre quarterback (very Alex Smith-esque), but he’s made progress. He also has weapons like Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills, and Julius Thomas on his squad and a defense that can play quite well.

With the news that Tannehill could miss the entire season, however, the Chiefs should be able to win this game. Matt Moore isn’t a bad option as a backup, but he’s a backup quarterback for a reason. (Editor’s Note: Jay Cutler could very well be the Fins quarterback instead).

Miami finally took a big step last season, making it to the postseason for the first time since the 2009 season.

Miami has always been just kind of an average team over the past few years, but they finally made it to the postseason and will be looking to build on that. Unfortunately for them, as long as Tom Brady is still playing, the Dolphins will have to settle for a Wild Card spot rather than a division title.

Even with the progress made in 2016, Kansas City should win this game comfortably.

Prediction: The Chiefs give their fans an early Christmas gift. 27-10, Chiefs

Standout Player: Dee Ford comes alive in this game and sacks Jay Cutler twice.
