Kansas City Chiefs: Young receivers making their mark early

Kansas City Chiefs Young Receivers
Jehu Chesson – Rookie Year
While the Kansas City Chiefs didn’t make a major investment at wide receiver this offseason, they did make one move worth noting. The Chiefs traded up in the fourth round of the NFL Draft to grab Jehu Chesson from Michigan. The young receiver has a very good chance of making the Kansas City roster.
As is to be expected, the rookie wide receiver is the one with the longest way to go right now. However, Jehu Chesson has still been able to make a few plays when he gets his opportunities. Chesson is the kind of player that a team puts a little bit more faith in because of high potential.

Jehu Chesson shouldn’t have been available in the fourth round of the draft. Chesson struggled in recovering from a knee injury last year, and that ended up killing his draft stock. Prior to that injury, he had been a much-hyped weapon for Michigan.
A standout junior year at Michigan is likely what caught the eye of Chiefs scouts on Jehu Chesson. Had he not gotten hurt, it is very likely that he would have continued to build on that in his senior year. Kansas City is clearly hoping that he regains that form. It’s a bit of a low risk/high reward proposition, even with the added investment of trading up for him.
Chesson rounds out this group of young wide receivers lining up in Kansas City. The lack of experience in this group is certainly enough to make any sane fan nervous. However, there is no denying the enormous potential that the Chiefs have gathered either.
The Kansas City Chiefs have the look of a team that expects to compete at the highest level in 2017. The Chiefs have assembled one of the best rosters in the NFL this year, and have set the bar high for themselves. There are some questionable spots still on this team, but the potential to be great is definitely there.
