Kansas City Chiefs projected to go 8-8 in 2017 by USA Today
The Kansas City Chiefs are being doubted once again, but this time, it’s by USA Today. USA Today predicted the Chiefs to only notch a .500 record during the 2017 season.
As Kansas City Chiefs fans, we’re all used to our team being overlooked time and time again. It’s no different this offseason, as the latest to doubt the Chiefs comes in the form of Nate Davis of USA Today. Davis pegged the Chiefs to finish at 8-8 and miss the playoffs this season.
Here was Davis’ analysis on the Chiefs and why he had an 8-8 record attached to them:

"Of their five non-divisional road opponents, four were playoff teams last year (Patriots, Texans, Cowboys, Giants) … as if their AFC West battles didn’t present challenge enough. But if the Chiefs can hold it together until December, playing at Arrowhead from Weeks 14-16 could give them a decisive edge."
The schedule being tough and the division being even tougher are definitely aspects working against the Chiefs, but come on… They have nearly their entire roster from a season ago returning. That should count for something, right?
In the division, Davis had the Raiders going 11-5 and winning the AFC West, the Chargers finishing at 9-7 and making it into the playoffs as a Wild Card, and the Broncos finishing in last with a 7-9 record. I will say that it was nice to see him give the Chargers some credit, as I feel they’re being overlooked this offseason.

As for the rest of the AFC, Davis boldly predicted the Patriots to go 16-0 and eventually win the Super Bowl. Another surprising pick was having the Titans go 12-4 and winning the South. Claiming the crown in the AFC South isn’t the surprising part, but 12-4 for the Titans would be insane.
In the NFC, Davis has the playoff teams being the Falcons, Packers, Cowboys, Seahawks, Buccaneers, and Giants with the Packers making it to the Super Bowl and losing to New England.
While these projections don’t mean anything at all, it is a little disheartening to see the Chiefs missing the postseason here. They’re going to be a good team in 2017, but people seem to be doubting them due to their rough offseason, tough schedule, and lack of wide receiver depth. I guess when I put it that way, it’s hard to blame people for critiquing them.
I will say this though… I’m tired of hearing about how good the Oakland Raiders are going to be.
Do you make anything of these predictions, Chiefs Kingdom or do you really not care?
