Royals Rumors aren’t taking a break despite the recent woes of the Kansas City Royals. Marco Estrada is the latest name to pop.

The Kansas City Royals have dropped seven of their last eight games but are still considered to be buyers. The latest rumor has the team considering Marco Estrada.

The Royals are looking to bolster the rotation as Tuesday’s start by Travis Wood is just further proof the team needs help if they have any hope of competing.

The Royals rumors are still going strong. This afternoon, Chris Cotillo tweeted the Royals were still looking for rentals.

The Royals rumor about Jaime Garcia isn’t a new one, but Estrada seems to be a name not floated around too much in connection to Kansas City.

Estrada doesn’t seem like the best fit since he hasn’t had an ERA under 4.00 since 2013. This season with the Blue Jays, he is 4-6 with an ERA of 4.31 and a WHIP of 1.471.

More from Royals Rumors

He is striking out more than a batter per inning with 115 strikeouts in 104.2 innings.

Even with just over a third of the season to go, Estrada is still owed approximately $8.2 million of his $14.5 million 2017 salary.

The good news is he shouldn’t cost that much in prospects to acquire him. The bad news is that he may not provide much bang for the 8.2 million bucks.

If the likes of Garcia and Estrada are the best the Royals can get, maybe they should evaluate their stance and become sellers instead of buyers.

Currently, they are 45-47, in third place in the AL Central, but just three games behind the Indians.  They are in fifth place for the Wildcard, still three spots out of the second slot, and one of ten teams within five and a half games.

Everyone knows this is the last hurrah for this core group of players. The organization seems to be willing to go for it one last time. The players have to produce though. This losing streak as merely highlighted the team’s deficiencies.

Despite their horrible play of late, the Kansas City Royals are still in the race somehow. The Royals rumors most likely aren’t going to calm down until the trade deadline passes.
