Even with these five players (six counting Orlando) underperforming, the Kansas City Royals are still sitting at 44-43 at the All-Star break.

More from Kansas City Royals

The sentiment through Major League Baseball is that if you’re at or around .500 at the All-Star break, then you’re in good shape to make it to the postseason down the stretch. Wouldn’t that be something if the KC Royals started off as badly as they did and ended up winning their division?

It’s entirely possible too, as the Royals play a slew of teams under .500 coming out of the break and have been playing their best baseball since the calendar hit June. From the great walk-off win against the Blue Jays to sweeping the Mariners in Seattle to seeing this team fight every day, it’s been a fun season to this point.

Let’s just hope that these guys listed on here can start contributing a little more. Herrera probably wouldn’t be on this list to some people, but a 4.50 ERA for a closer is bad. He doesn’t really instill confidence into fans and that’s something Royals fans haven’t been accustomed to in a long time.
