If we’re being real, there is no way that Joel Stave should have his own page in this preview. However, this is where I would normally cover “everyone else” on the roster for any other position. Since the Kansas City Chiefs only have one person in that category, Stave gets his own page.
There really isn’t much to write about Joel Stave. Nobody has seen him do anything in the NFL. Since being picked up as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin, Stave has bounced around a couple teams as a tryout and practice squad player. Kansas City simply looks to be his next temporary stop.
The truth is that Stave would really have to blow the doors off of everyone at camp to get a real shot. The Chiefs aren’t getting rid of Alex Smith or Patrick Mahomes right now, and Tyler Bray seems to be a safe bet to make the roster right now. That just really isn’t a good situation for Stave to try and break in to.
Prediction
I love a good “cinderella story” in sports, but this one seems to be more fantasy than possibility. I wish Joel Stave all the luck in the world and hope things work out for him. I really just don’t see any way that happens in Kansas City this year.
With Training Camp upon us, it’s hard to not get excited about the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017. Coming off of a 12-4 season, the Chiefs should be looking to be contenders again this year. I know some people are down on this team, but that happens every year and Kansas City has just proved them wrong. Get excited Chiefs Kingdom, football is almost back!
