The KC Royals have at least two representatives in the 2017 MLB All-Star Game, but very well could have a third guy wearing the KC cap in Miami. Mike Moustakas is up for the final vote and has some stacked competition.

Two years ago, Mike Moustakas had the best season of his career and was rewarded for it by a chance to make it into the All-Star Game. He was apart of the final vote and KC Royals fans voted their hearts out to get Moose to Cincinnati that year.

This season, we’re looking at a similar story, but are unsure of the ending yet. Moustakas is once again apart of the final vote for the American League, but this year, his competition could keep him out of his second All-Star Game.

The good news, however, is that Moustakas will for sure be participating in the Home Run Derby. This is the first time a Royal has been in the event in 26 years.

Here are the four other players vying for a final spot on the 2017 American League squad.

Andrus is having a tremendous year for Texas, batting .302 with 11 home runs so far in 80 games. He seems to be the clear choice for non-biased voters, but that doesn’t mean he’s a shoe-in to win the vote.

More from Kansas City Royals

Bogaerts is batting .314 with five home runs and is always one of the best players in Boston. He made it to last year’s All-Star Game and really could have made a case to have been there rather than Alcides Escobar in 2015.

Gregorius has a .310 batting average with ten home runs and is a threat to win the vote simply because he plays for the Yankees. New York is one of the bigger fan bases and if they get behind Gregorius, he could easily be appearing in his first ever All-Star Game.

Last, but not least is Logan Morrison of the Tampa Bay Rays. Morrison is a Kansas City product, attending Maple Woods Community College. Morrison is similar to Moustakas in that his batting average isn’t over .300 (Morrison’s currently sits at .256), but he’s crushing home runs left and right. Morrison has an astounding 24 home runs so far this season!

While these four players all are extremely talented and deserving of making the trip to Miami, Mike Moustakas is absolutely deserving as well. The third baseman has a .280 average and has hit 22 home runs, tied for his previous career high. Moustakas is on the prowl for a long-term contract and his production this season has most definitely warranted that.

KC Royals fans need to get Moustakas into his second All-Star Game! This could be the final time he gets to go to the big game as a member of the Kansas City Royals. Remember to #VoteMoose everyone!
