ROYALS WHO DESERVE TO BE ALL-STARS – NUMBER 2: SALVADOR PEREZ

Salvador Perez is a no brainer when it comes to All-Stars. At one time, it was entirely possible that Perez could have been the only Royal voted into the big game, but that was when the Royals were struggling.

Now that the team is relevant and the bats have heated up tremendously, Perez should have some company in Miami. If his 401,950+ lead over second place catcher Brian McCann of the Astros holds, this would be Perez’s fifth straight trip to the All-Star Game, which is impressive considering he’s only 27 years old.

Perez is slashing .290/.322/.528 with 15 home runs and 43 RBI in 248 at bats. He’s not only continuing to be one of the best defensive catchers in the league, but his hot hitting has been key in the Royals turning their season around.

If I had to peg any Royal to make it to the big game, it’d be Salvy in a heartbeat. He’s the most obvious choice, but there’s one guy who deserves to go even more than Salvador Perez.
