Kansas City Chiefs part ways with general manager John Dorsey
A shocker has hit the Kansas City Chiefs this afternoon, as general manager John Dorsey has been let go from the organization. No clear reason has been revealed yet.
Just when Kansas City Chiefs fans feel like their team has turned over a new leaf, they go and do something that makes no sense. Well, thinking back to Jeremy Maclin, they’ve done two things that make little sense.
John Dorsey was let go by the Chiefs on Thursday afternoon, per multiple sources. There’s no specific reason as to why Dorsey was dropped yet, but of course people are talking. One potential reason is that Dorsey might be headed to Green Bay and another is that perhaps Dorsey and Andy Reid, who just got an extension minutes prior to this news, were butting heads.
Regardless of why this happened, this is shocking news. The Chiefs have been winners ever since John Dorsey came to Kansas City in 2013 and have only missed the playoffs in one of those seasons. Something big had to have happened in order for this type of situation to occur. Teams don’t just fire their general manager for no reason.
John Dorsey was responsible for drafting guys like Travis Kelce, Marcus Peters, Tyreek Hill, and recently Patrick Mahomes. The fact that the Chiefs just drafted their quarterback of the future and are now cutting their general manager shows that this is a very hectic situation.
Now the Chiefs will have to hire a new general manger (unless they just give that title to Andy Reid, which wouldn’t be too crazy of an idea honestly), that’s just one more question to add to the list for this organization. What once looked to be a solid unit heading into 2017 now poses some very interesting decisions made in the past month.
Obviously this is a case of something deeper happening in the organization that has lingered badly enough for the team to make a huge decision. Extending the head coach and then cutting the general manager less than an hour later is very suspicious.
We’ll have to stand by and see why exactly this went down, but it should make for an interesting few days for the Kansas City Chiefs. What do you think the reason was for this shocking news, Chiefs fans?
